Ever get the impression the 'frequently asked questions' you see on websites were made up by the person who does the website? Well in this case they are, because this part of this website is new. So I'll have a go at guessing some 'future asked questions'

How do you get a photo?

  1. First find your pic (making sure its resolution is sufficient)
  2. Make a note of its number
  3. Fill in the form
  4. I'll email you a price
  5. If you're happy to go ahead, I'll send you a request for payment from Paypal. Paypal payments are secure and can be done using either your Paypal account or a regular credit card
  6. As soon as I receive notification of payment I'll send you another email, with a link on it. You'll be able to download the photo by clicking on the link

What am I actually selling?
I'll be selling the rights to use my photo/photos, and of course allowing you to download the digital file/files. What that means is, you'll be able to use the photos in the way you described to me. However I will retain copyright of the images

Do the images come with an embedded ICC profile?
Yes. Even though being put onto a website does dreadful things to a photograph, the original files for which I'm selling reproduction rights are treated much more carefully. In case you're wondering, my colour management workflow is in the Adobe RGB (1998) workspace

How does payment work?
I use Paypal. So I'll send you a request for payment via Paypal, and then you will be able to pay me via their secure system, either from your own Paypal account or using your credit card

How do you get the file?
Once I receive notification from Paypal that the money has been sent, I'll send you an email with a link in it. You'll be able to click on the link to download the file

How long will the link last?
One month. You'll be able to download it whenever you want during that time, or more than once if necessary. If you need to download it after a month then get in touch with me. And of course, if you have any other problems then you can contact me here

What kind of file will it be?
It will be an RGB .jpg file saved at maximum quality and then compressed inside a .zip. Now I'll admit, compressing a .jpg inside a .zip doesn't reduce the file size much but what it does do is make it easy to download from a link. The exception to this rule is if the file you want is a layered Photoshop file, like the deep-etched Pelican photos for example. In that case it will be a layered .psd (Photoshop) file compressed inside a .zip

If you want to convert the file to CMYK for printing purposes then you will need to do that yourself

What if you need an Australian Tax Invoice?
No problem. Just ask for one and I'll e-mail you a tax invoice/receipt as a PDF file

Is there someone you can contact if you have a problem?
Yes. Me. The online form is just a means of giving me the info I need in the beginning, plus a way of stopping spambots from harvesting my email address. When I get back in touch with you, you'll have my direct email address and you'll be able to email me directly

Want more info?
If you have any questions, I mean real questions and not these made-up ones, then feel free to contact me here

Cheers,

Mark

Disclaimer: I've tried really, really hard to get all the information (eg: identifications, pixel dimensions of the photos etc) accurate. However, being human I can not guarantee the accuracy. By the way, if you do come across something I've got wrong then I would very much appreciate you telling me
